I have the privilege to serve as the 8th chief academic officer at Florida International University. Home to 54,000 amazing students educated by our 1200 world class faculty and supported by 5400 dedicated staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Office of Academic Affairs.

Our office oversees the academic enterprise of all of FIU's schools and colleges, FIU's three accredited museums, as well as various centers, institutes and administrative divisions. We are privileged to serve as Miami's only public research university. Since opening our doors in 1972, FIU has seen tremendous growth both in numbers and the quality of our faculty, staff and students and we are now the fourth largest public research university in the nation.

In the next decade over 100,000 students will graduate from our 11 FIU schools and colleges which provide our students the opportunity to receive an excellent, diverse learning experience set in a vibrant, global city. From Aquarius, the world's only undersea research laboratory, to the Wall of Wind, which can simulate Category 5 hurricane force winds in a controlled environment, our students are exposed to one of a kind facilities, working with some of the most creative and entrepreneurial researchers from around the world.

As we continue to implement our FIUBeyondPossible2020 strategic plan which is our roadmap to continued FIU success into the year 2020, I look forward to harnessing the unique strengths of our students, faculty and staff to build on the exceptional progress we have made since FIU welcomed its first class in 1972. We are committed to providing our students with an exceptional environment to learn and grow. We will continue to be bold in order to give our students the tools they will need to succeed and thrive as global citizens in a 21st century world. I look forward to working together as we continue to redefine the role of a public research university in a metropolitan community where there is an integration of pioneering research, community engagement and unique learning opportunities.

All the very best,
