New Faculty Orientation

Helpful Resources in your Beginning Days on Campus:

FIU One Card: Your official FIU identification is the FIU One Card. You will be able to obtain your One Card in the morning at New Faculty Orientation or from the One Card Office. For additional information please click here.

Parking on Campus: Register your vehicle for a virtual parking permit at

Office Keys: For access to specific offices or building, you must initiate a request through Key Control to obtain the necessary keys and building access. Your department's support staff will be able to assist you with this task. If your key is requested by August 2nd, you will be able to pick up your key at New Faculty Orientation.

Teaching & Learning Support for Faculty: Varied FIU units offer opportunities to enhance teaching and/or engage with colleagues in discussions about learning and instruction. Among them, the Center for the Advancement of Teaching, the Office of Global Learning Initiatives, the STEM Transformation Institute, and Writing across the Curriculum. Textbook Adoptions: Course instructors must report required and recommended textbook/course materials by entering course material information in Adoption & Insight Portal no later than 45 days prior to each semester. Should you not require or recommend any course materials for purchase, you also need to report that via the Adoption & Insight Portal system. system. Should you have questions, please contact your departmental staff. The Barnes & Noble support team will also be able to assist you and you can reach them at or 305-348-3923 and 305-348-3924.

General Information and Resources: (Panthersoft): The PantherSoft system, or, is the online platform for accessing information on your classes (classroom assignment, roster, grade recording) and for employee self-services (payroll, time reporting, benefits, and updates to personal information). FIU Libraries: The FIU Libraries are valuable resources for faculty. Each specific discipline has a library liaison whose role is to orient you to the many services and resources to assist you in your teaching and scholarly activities.

Family Resources: To help you and your family navigate your new city, we have set up FIU Classifieds for your convenience. For children ages 2½ to 5 years old, the Children's Creative Learning Center (CCLC) is a nationally accredited educational preschool located on the MMC campus.
